3 cups all purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup butter or margarine (softened)
2 eggs (beaten)
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
1. In a large bowl, add flour, baking powder baking soda and sugar. Add eggs, softened butter and buttermilk. Stir and mix well. Add raisins and mix dough.
2. Put batter in a deep loaf pan. (About 9 by 5) Bake in oven for 40-50 minutes. After 40 minutes use a toothpick of a cake tester to test center of bread. Toothpick/tester should be dry when removed. If not, bake an additional 10 minutes.
Remove from oven. Let cool before slicing.
